Situation

Following the $100 million acquisition of a regional fire and life safety business, a national industry leader needed to integrate the acquired company’s finance and accounting operations without disrupting the business.

The acquisition provided the buyer with a strategic foothold in the Western U.S., while creating a significant financial integration effort. The acquired business continued operating independently during the transition, requiring experienced financial leadership to maintain reporting and operational continuity while preparing the organization for integration into the parent company.

MMG was engaged to serve as Interim CFO and lead key financial integration activities during the three-month transition.

Solutions
1

Provided Interim Financial Leadership

MMG served as Interim CFO while the acquired company continued operating independently, providing financial oversight and hands-on leadership until the acquiring company was ready to assume responsibility for the finance and accounting function.
2

Led ERP and Financial Integration

MMG supported the migration from a combination of ServiceTrade and Sage Intacct to the acquiring company's SAP environment. The team prepared the opening balance sheet, mapped the chart of accounts between systems, supported transaction-related tax compliance, and helped transition financial reporting into the parent company's systems.
3

Maintained Visibility Across 250+ Active Projects

MMG owned the contract schedule and facilitated biweekly work-in-progress meetings covering more than 250 active projects.
Working directly with project managers, the team reviewed budgets, change orders, cost-to-complete estimates, billing activity, and overall project performance. This maintained visibility into project financials while systems and financial responsibilities were changing around the operating teams.
4

Supported Inventory and Financial Accuracy

MMG managed inventory reconciliations, cycle counts, goods received not invoiced, and other financial control activities required to support accurate reporting throughout the transition.
Results

The acquired business continued operating without disruption while MMG helped transition its finance function into the acquiring organization.

Over the three-month engagement, MMG provided the financial leadership and operational support needed to move from ServiceTrade and Sage Intacct toward SAP, maintain visibility across more than 250 active projects, and support financial accuracy throughout the integration.

Once the transition was complete, responsibility for finance and accounting was successfully transferred to the acquiring company’s team, completing the financial integration of a strategic Western U.S. acquisition.
